Banking sector assets exceeded 5.2 trillion lira

As of the end of April, the total asset size of the Turkish banking sector increased by 16.4 percent compared to the end of 2019, reaching 5 trillion 226 billion 788 million lira.

The “Unconsolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector” report for April was published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA). According to the report, at the end of April, the asset size of the Turkish banking sector was 5 trillion 226 billion 788 million TL. The total assets of the sector increased by 735 billion 971 million lira compared to the end of 2019.

In the said period, loans, which are the biggest asset item, were 3 trillion 104 billion 368 million TL, and securities 841 billion 745 million TL.

Compared to the end of 2019, the asset size of the sector increased by 16.4 percent, the total of loans increased by 16.9 percent and the total of securities increased by 27.4 percent. During this period, the NPL ratio of loans was 4.64 percent.

The net profit of the sector was 19 billion 652 million lira

Deposits, which are the biggest source of funds among banks’ resources, increased by 16.4 percent compared to the end of 2019 and reached 2 trillion 986 billion 592 million liras.

Compared to the end of 2019, the total equity increased by 3.8 percent to 511 billion 49 million liras, while the net profit of the sector for the period was 19 billion 652 million lira as of April, and the capital adequacy standard ratio was at the level of 18.65 percent.
